The YWCA is pleased to announce that we are again joining with Harrisburg Area NOW, as well as the AAUW Policy Committee and Planned Parenthood Keystone, to sponsor a film screening and talk-back focused on women’s issues. We have done this for the past two years, with “MissRepresentation” and Iron Jawed Angels,” and the film this year is the critically-acclaimed “She’s Beautiful When She’s Angry.”

This film resurrects the buried history of the outrageous, often brilliant women who founded the modern women’s movement from 1966 to 1971. It does not shy away from controversies over race, sexual orientation and leadership that arose in the women’s movement, and brilliantly captures the spirit of the time in a way that should inform and inspire us in our work to empower women today. You can view the trailer here, and please join us!

The movie will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Shaashawn "The Voyce" Dial-Snowden, featuring Jessica Butler-Grant (the first female NAACP board member from Pennsylvania), Lois Herr (women's rights activist and former Congressional candidate) and our own Mary Quinn representing the YWCA Greater Harrisburg.

The movie is free and open to the public, and tampons, pads and Depends will be collected for homeless women in Harrisburg – a portion of which will be donated to the YWCA. Please join the Facebook event and share with your friends!
