Join the 2026-2027 YWCA Junior Board

The YWCA Junior Board is open to women between 21-35 years old who are interested in gaining experience on a nonprofit board. The Junior Board of the YWCA is charged with creating awareness of the YWCA mission and serves to develop leadership and service skills in its members. The Junior Board meets on a monthly basis and holds two fundraising events throughout the year, which raise funds for the YWCA’s Child Development programs. The events are the Spring Happy Hour, held in May, and Fall Fest, typically held in late September or early October.

The 2026 Fall Fest is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026 from 1-4 p.m. at The Vineyard at Hershey and new Junior Board members will be invited to attend.

The Junior Board coordinates and participates in Family Night events throughout the year with the residents of the YWCA. Members are also able to participate in other events and committees for events the YWCA holds throughout the year including the Tribute to Women of Excellence, the Pursuit of Justice Purse Auction and more.

Junior Board members serve a term of three years, and members who are 35 years old or under at the conclusion of their first term are eligible to serve a second consecutive term. New terms will begin on September 1, 2026. Members are required to attend at least four of the scheduled meetings, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible (2026-2027 meeting dates are below).

Applicants should make note of the meeting dates and read through the Junior Board by-laws and responsibilities prior to applying so that you are aware of the expectations of all Junior Board members. All Junior Board members are also expected to have or obtain required Pennsylvania child abuse clearances, which will be explained to new members at their first meeting.

2026-2027 Junior Board Meeting Dates

Junior Board members are required to attend at least four of the Junior Board meetings throughout the year, but are encouraged to attend as many as possible. All meetings take place at the YWCA Greater Harrisburg beginning at 5:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted ahead of time by the Junior Board President (meetings may occasionally take place offsite).

Apply to the 2026-2027 Junior Board

Applications for the 2026-2027 Junior Board are now open and will be accepted until July 31, 2026. Applications will be reviewed by the Junior Board and final voting by the full Board will take place at their August meeting. New members will be notified afterward and invited to attend the first meeting of the new term on September 15.
