YW Works

YW Works is a comprehensive employment empowerment service that helps low-income or unemployed members of the community build the skills they need to find, keep and improve their employment. The goal of this program is to help clients achieve self-sufficiency by earning a living wage and to increase self-confidence through the achievement of personal goals.

Services Provided:
Skills Assessment to help clients find their interests and abilities so that they can work towards a career that is right for them.

Training through internships, training schools, on the job training and/or higher education.

Acquisition of Jobs, achieved by educating clients on how to achieve a job by applying and interviewing in the right ways. Help is also provided in finding a job once clients are ready to do so.

Job Retention, encouraged by helping clients to grow more skilled at their job through internships, on-the-job coaching, support groups and professional mentoring.

Supportive Services that assist clients with any barriers to acquiring or maintaining employment, such as transportation and childcare.

Technology Education Center, offering computer and technology classes to YW residents and the community. You can find more information about our Technology Education Center here.

-Extensive network with area employers.
-Mock interviews.
-Education and employment site visits.
-On-site computer access for self-paced learning and practice.
-Dress for success and a working professional closet (for women only).
-Personal skills development.
-Follow-up job coaching and mentoring.
