Sexual assault remains the most dramatically underreported crime in the United States, with an estimated two-thirds of attacks unreported. Most rapes are known as acquaintance rapes, where the victim knows the attacker. Women are raped more often than men, but male victims of sexual assault experience the same reactions as women.
