DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH 2008


Last year, 6,956 days of safe shelter were provided to women and children.

Last year there were
2,825 new adult recipients of YWCA domestic violence services.
Last year, 157 new children found safe shelter in the YWCA domestic violence shelter.

Last year, there were 2,176 recipients of YWCA telephone counseling and/or advocacy services.

First Responders Breakfast - On Thursday, October 9, at 8:30 AM the YWCA will host a thank you breakfast for first responders, police officers, prosecutors, politicians, commissioners, and legislators.

Wheels to Healing - Saturday, October 11th - 2nd annual 60-mile motorcycle run starting at the YWCA at 10am.  2nd departure from Denny's Lennies restaurant at 11:15am - Pre-Registration fee $20.00

Candlelight Vigil – On Wednesday, October 22nd at 7:00 PM the YWCA will host a candlelight vigil to honor survivors and remember those that were murdered at the hands of their abuser. Victims and survivors will talk about Domestic Violence.
