We're Looking for our 2019 Cards with Heart Artist!
Each year YWCA Greater Harrisburg asks artists to submit a piece of art that can be recreated on a greeting card. This campaign is titled Cards with Heart (CWH). This campaign was originally called “Mother’s Day Cards” and the cards were sold only during the Mother’s Day season. The campaign evolved into CWH to enable more time to reach a larger part of the community.
The YWCA has been selling cards each year to support our shelter residents since 1999. The YWCA provides shelter to, on average, 110 women and their children at a cost of approximately $75 a night.
It is time to begin searching for the 2019 artwork. We are pursuing local female artists to submit an art sample for consideration. The CWH committee will review and select an artist and art piece for the campaign. The selected art piece is used to create a card which will be sold at numerous locations on the East and West Shores. Sponsors underwrite the cost of printing the cards, so all proceeds support the YWCA shelter residents.
We would like to consider your work for our 16th year! Being the CWH artist has come to be an honor, and we’ve had some impressive local artists during this tenure who’ve produced beautiful pieces of art that become the face of the Cards with Heart.
These are the steps to submit your artwork:
- Submit an Intention to Submit Artwork email specifying you will submit artwork for consideration by Thursday, November 15. You can simply email Tiffanie Keck at the YWCA to do this – email@example.com, with Cards with Heart in the reference line. Or, you may phone Tiffanie at 717-234-7931.
- Then, submit one – three samples of your artwork by Thursday, November 29, again to Tiffanie Keck at the YWCA to do this – firstname.lastname@example.org. Please keep in mind, the artwork will be the front of a card which will open vertically or horizontally. If you prefer, you may drop off a physical piece(s) of your work to Tiffanie at the YWCA.
If your work is chosen for the 2019 CWH campaign, you will be the featured artist at our Artist’s Reception. You will have the opportunity to showcase and sell ALL your work to the individuals who attend the reception that evening.
As the CWH artist, you will agree to donate the chosen piece of artwork, framed and matted, to be auctioned off at the Artists Reception. In addition, as the featured artist at this event, we ask that you donate 10% of your sales of artwork, cards, etc. that take place during the Artists Reception. In return for this partnership, we promote you and your artwork on the YWCA Website, on the YWCA’s Facebook Page, and anywhere else appropriate. In addition, your work will be seen at all of our retail sales locations, as well as through sales by community groups. We normally sell between 2000 – 3000 cards each year!
We hope you will be part of this exciting event! Those of us serving on the Friends Board hold the work we do for the YWCA and the families served near and dear to our hearts.
