At age 18, Israeli model Linor Abargil was abducted and violently assaulted just weeks before she competed in - and won - the Miss World pageant in 1998.  Brave Miss World highlights not only Linor’s successful battle for justice against her attacker, but also her healing process, which to this day includes speaking out about her own experience and encouraging other rape victims to do the same - without shame.

The screening held on May 14 at the Jewish Community Center (3301 N Front Street, Harrisburg) will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Kristen Houser, Vice President of Public Relations for the PA Coalition Against Rape (PCAR), Rhonda Hendrickson, Director of Violence Intervention and Prevention Services at the YWCA Greater Harrisburg, and Kate Cook, a local rape survivor/activist.

Brave Miss World is being presented as the opening event of the 21st annual Harrisburg Jewish Film Festival (tickets $10 at the door; can be purchased online at http://bravemissworldhbgjff.bpt.me). The Film Festival will continue its season at the Midtown Cinema from May 15th-21st.   The full schedule of films, including an encore screening of Brave Miss World, can be found on the Festival website (www.hbgjff.com).
